Lynn Anderson’s Beginnings

On September 26, 1947, a star was born named Lynn Rene Anderson in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She is known to be one of the top female vocalists. The biggest influence on her love of country music was her mother, Liz Anderson. She met Merle Haggard while she was with her mother. That time, she was already recognized by the owner of a record label known as Chart Records.

Aside from singing, Lynn Anderson had a huge success in horse shows. She won a total of 700 trophies and the title “California Horse Show Queen.”

Lynn Anderson’s Top Five Songs

Today, we celebrate the great Lynn Anderson’s 71st birthday. We remember her by listening to five of her best hit songs, but not in any particular order.

“Rose Garden”

Lynn’s signature song “Rose Garden” was released in 1970. Joe South wrote the song and Billy Joe Royal first recorded it. However, the song is best associated to country singer Lynn. “Rose Garden” is Lynn’s first No. 1 song to hit the chart. Moreover, the song crossed over to the pop chart at No. 3. It became internationally known and it secured a spot on the different charts outside of the US. This became Lynn’s first single to be Gold-certified by RIAA in 1971.

“You’re My Man”

“You’re My Man” is another No.1 song of Lynn Anderson. Moreover, her single crossed over the Billboard Pop chart at No. 63. This followed her big hit “Rose Garden.”

“What A Man My Man Is”

In 1974, Lynn earned her fifth No. 1 on the chart with her song “What A Man My Man Is.” In addition, her song placed at No. 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Cry”

Like her single “Rose Garden,” Lynn’s single “Cry” entered the charts inside and outside of the US. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Moreover, the song placed at No. 71 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Cry” is a song written by Churchill Kohlman in 1951. The song was first recorded by Ruth Casey. The best version of this song was recorded by Johnnie Ray.

“If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away)”

This song was written by Lynn’s mother, Liz Anderson. She earned her first top 10 with this single of hers. The song reached No. 5 on the Billboard Country Songs chart.

Anderson has 74 singles on the chart and eight No. 1 songs. She was also able to release a total of 35 studio albums and won various awards from Grammy’s, CMA’s and ACM.
