As reported in the past months, back in May, just a few weeks after hosting a two-night stand at the Ryman marking her 85th birthday, Loretta Lynn suffered a stroke that put her in the hospital and through rehabilitation. Even if her condition improved, she had no choice but to cancel her summer tour and postpone the release of her album Wouldn’t It Be Great. Today, however, she made an announcement of her return to the stage: headlining the Tennessee Motorcycles and Music Revival at her ranch in Hurricane Mills. Country icon Loretta Lynn will close out the Tennessee Motorcycles and Music Revival at her ranch.
The event will be a weekend camping festival which is set from Sept. 28- Oct. 1. It will also feature a live entertainment spread around the ranch of Country, Southern rock and Americana acts, with standouts including Ben Haggard (son of Merle) and Kentucky Headhunters.
In addition to the exciting lineup of performers, there will also be other attractions, especially for motorcyclists. That includes dirt-track rides, Rhett Rotten’s Wall of Death (Heart-stopping, adrenaline-pumping motorcycle stunt riding at its best), something called “Bootleg Bike Racing” (“It’s kind of oval. It’s kind of flat. It’s kind of crazy.”), Singer-Songwriter Rounds where attendees can experience the talent of the artists, Vendor’s Court, Craftsman’s Barn, Food and Drink. And, a trail ride on Oct. 1 called “Loretta Lynn’s Ride for Mission 22.”
The event is named in honor of the charitable institution for which the proceeds of the event will go to — Mission 22. It a support group that offers resources and support to help end veteran suicide. Following the ride, Lynn herself will perform, sharing the stage with a group of friends and family members.
