One of the most iconic and classic country songs of all time, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys” is a hit penned by Ed Bruce and his wife, Patsy. Although the song was originally recorded by Bruce himself, it was Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings who made it popular. Recording it as a duet, the two country outlaws’ rendition remains to be the most famous and recognizable version up to this day. And, no one can argue with this.
However, in a rare performance, a little cowgirl contests the idea of who can sing the song so well.
In 2015, a cute 6-year-old girl got up on stage in her cowboy hat and little boots. The crowd, on the other hand, had no idea what she’s up to. The little girl just continued her thing and then clutched on to the microphone.
With a single guitar player behind her, the little girl first took a deep breath and began singing “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.” Enthusiastically, she sang every lyric of the song at the top of her voice. Watching her performance, you can’t help it but smile. It is just one of the cutest things ever.
While singing, she emphasized the words “cowboy” and “such” and the crowd was simply delighted by that. She then powered through the rest of the song and even hit the notes as perfectly as the original singers did. Finally, she finished her performance with a smile so contagious that will make you smile, too.
In response, the crowd gave her massive applause and cheers that she truly deserved.
With her sweet and cute performance, we could see that there is a big future waiting ahead of her.
