He might be in heaven with God right now but through his songs, we can still recollect his works of art. Just like his song “Turn Out The Light And Love Me Tonight”, a romantic and passionate portrayal of love. Don Williams’ surely showed a very affectionate way of loving.

‘Bout The Song…

“Turn Out The Light And Love Me Tonight” is a song written by Bob McDill and was released in August 1975 as the second single from the album “You’re My Best Friend”. The song really captivated the hearts of the country music enthusiasts. As a matter of fact, the song was Don Williams’ ninth country hit and his third No.1 on the country charts. The single became No.1 for a week and spent a total of 12 weeks on the country charts.

Furthermore, on November 1, 1975, the song surpassed the other country artists and their songs. These were “I’m Sorry” by John Denver at No.2, “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way” by Waylon Jennings at No.3, “Rocky” by Dickey Lee at No.4, and “What’s Happened To Blue Eyes” by Jessi Colter at No.5.

The Lyrics Say It All…

The lyrics have a passionate intensity of someone’s sentiment. Don Williams solely sings the feelings the way the lyrics intended it to be. He, on behalf of the people with such in-depth emotion, shows it through the song. This is, to simply be with someone they love. The love that defines two people who found affection in each other’s arms.

The Fervent Lyrics…

I’ve been lonesome, been empty
I got an achin’, Way down inside
I need someone,
Someone to hold me
Pull down the shade,
Turn out the light, And love me tonight.

Don’t think about tomorrow
It don’t matter any more
We can turn the key
And lock the world outside the door.

I need you so now
Come on let’s go now
Kick off your shoes,
Turn out the light, And love me tonight.

Now don’t you worry, We’re all alone now
Let your hair down, Sit by my side
Turn off the T.V., Put on some music
Pull down the shade
Turn out the light, And love me tonight

Don’t think about tomorrow
It don’t matter any more
We can turn the key
And lock the world outside the door.

I need you so now
Come on let go now
Kick off your shoes
Turn out the light, And love me tonight
