Have You Heard of The Land Where “We’ll Never Grow Old”?

Have You Heard of The Land Where "We’ll Never Grow Old"? 1

I feel blessed to be growing older. Don’t you? We convince ourselves that every day is another blessing. An opportunity to live, laugh and love. Once I told myself, I would never want to see myself grow old. What registered in my mind since childhood was getting old means being left alone. I did not want that to happen. Then I turned to my 20s and the years just kept ticking away. Now, I’m almost 30 and life goes on. But, did you know that there is a land that promises us we will never grow old?

Where Will We Never Grow Old?

James C. Moore wrote these hope-filled lyrics,

“I have heard of a land on the far away strand
‘Tis a beautiful home of the soul
Built by Jesus on high, there we never shall die
‘Tis a land where we never grow old.”

How wonderful it is to know that Moore’s lyrics are true and Bible-based. It is saying that within the gleaming gateways of a land, there will be no aging process. It is a spiritual kingdom occupied by immortals. By description, immortals do not age. But, not only will the redeemed be protected from the ravages of time, they will also be untouched by death, sorrow, sickness, or pain. Yes, dear fellas. This land James Moore is talking about, is heaven. By heaven, we think of death. As a child, we were told we will not go to heaven if we did not live our life well. We were told we will not reach heaven unless we die.

Its Bible Counterpart

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

(Rev. 21:3-5)

If heaven was only “a land where we’ll never grow old,” it would be grand enough, yet, it is so much more. It is majestic! There will be no sickness there, much less death. Not a single tear, much less desperation due to sorrow and pain. God, Himself, will be the main reason none of these things will ever happen again. Again, He is the One who will wipe away all tears from our eyes. He will make all our burdens light.

Now think with me about this. What would it be like if we age without dropping our health? How would it be to grow older and wiser, but not weaker? How would we maintain strength and vigor? For now, may we do all within our powers to gain residence in this land, do good things and never grow old.
