“Can’t Help Falling in Love,” written specifically for Blue Hawaii by George Weiss, Hugo Peretti, and Luigi Creatore is remembered as the ballad Elvis Presley closed his concerts with during the 1970s. In the film, Elvis’ character sings it to the grandmother of his girlfriend for her birthday. However that context has long since been forgotten. Because Elvis sang it so many times in concert, it is more fitting to suggest that the song belongs to the fans. It speaks to the way the fans felt about Elvis, and it was his love song to them.
Can’t Help Falling in Love
This song is one of the greatest love songs of all time.
People have fallen in love, made love and walked down the aisle to this song for decades and now.
In Elvis’s first verse of the song, he says “Wise men say only fools rush in”. This gives us an advice not to rush into a relationship. But the next line talks about how he doesn’t care about that because he loves the person.
In an exaggerated yet true sense, the song tells of a love as a powerful force and can make you foolish. Love will take its own path and it either ends in a good or bad way since love is an inner feeling and instinct and that you can’t choose who you fall in love with.
Love can’t be conquered; it’ll come for you, it’ll take over you, it will never let you go.
“Can’t help Falling in Love” can as well be a universal song of affection rather than just for lovers. It is such a sweet song with its simple yet perfect statement about love. The meaning is so clear, yet so profound. You don’t find love, love finds you, and you basically have no choice but to accept it, whether it will end up being your death or your life.
Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii
Again, “Can’t Help Falling In love” was first aired in the movie “Blue Hawaii”. The movie sees the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll as Chad. He recently got out of the Army and is looking forward to some fun and romance with Aloha State. His mother, played by the great Angela Lansbury, wants him to take over the family business, but he’d much rather work as a tour guide for his girlfriend’s agency. The colorful, exotic locales, a fabulous soundtrack, and light-hearted storyline make this comedy one of Elvis’ most beloved films.
