“Long Black Train:” Josh Turner’s Breakthrough Single and Album

Back in 2003, Josh Turner released his debut album “Long Black Train.” The album was certified platinum the following year. It even became a top charting album peaking at number three on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. On the other hand, the single of the same name became his leap forward song. It placed at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

“Long Black Train” then became Josh Turner’s breakthrough single and album. Also, it became his signature song. After the release of the album and single, Josh Turner continued releasing more songs and they became certified platinum, too.

Josh Turner himself wrote the words and lyrics of “Long Black Train.” It was the second single from the album of the same name. Additionally, the song was certified gold by RIAA. It placed at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Moreover, “Long Black Train” is a Christian Gospel Song. It merely discusses temptations. Also, it is a train picking up sinful passengers. Above all, Josh Turner reflected what he was personally going through in his career and relationships.

The album has a total of eleven tracks including his top charting singles “She’ll Go on You,” “What it Ain’t,” and “Long Black Train.”

All in all, Josh Turner released eight albums, three of those became number one, “Your Man,” “Punching Bag,” and “Deep South.” “Haywire” placed at number two. “Everything is Fine” and “Long Black Train” reached number three. “Live Across America” at number seven and “Icon: Josh Turner” at number twenty.
