Lately, weddings have been happening around the corner. In my case, specifically, a close friend tied the knot just yesterday. It was a joyous and momentous event as she opens another chapter in her life. One of the highlights that happened was when we were in church. As the couples recited their vows to each other, tears came rushing down everyone’s cheeks. Their words for each other were heartfelt. Everyone was touched and became emotional. My friends and I became emotional too. To be standing in front of your family, friends, and loved ones, and speaking such words to the one you love mean a lot. We are grateful and happy that at last, she has found the love that she’s been praying for.
A famous quote about marriage goes,
“A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.” (Mignon McLaughlin)
‘Tis true indeed. You cannot just fall in love with a person once and expect it to last. Many a time, this happens to most couples. Falling in love does not happen at one point, rather, it goes on. Some marriages do not work out because of this.
In this article, Jeff Carson’s “Not On Your Love” is featured. This is a beautiful song that tackles about not giving up on your love with your partner. As you dig deep into its lyrics, you can immediately tell that being in love is sweet yet, at times, difficult. No marriage is perfect and so are couples. However, you still have the responsibility for your relationship. You are still in control. And if problems arise, still, the best answer is not to end the relationship immediately, but to talk to each other and meet in between.
Originally written by Tony Martin, Troy Martin, and Reese Wilson, “Not On Your Love” was first recorded by American country singer Jeff Carson. Produced by Chuck Howard, it was released on June 6, 1995.
This 3-minute song was Carson’s only single that hit no. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) chart. In addition, it reached no. 97 on the Billboard Hot 100.
