Did you know that country music star Jason Aldean’s romantic love song, “You Make It Easy,” is a nod to his wife, Brittany Aldean? She’s also the first person Jason played the song for. And of course, she loved it.
But despite the track’s title, Jason Aldean and Brittany Kerr’s happy ending came after some not-so-easy experiences. In fact, the two met when Jason was still married to high school sweetheart and now ex-wife, Jessica Aldean, with whom he shares two daughters, Keeley, 17, and Kendyl, 12.
How did they make through the scandal and emerged more in love than ever?
The Controversial Meeting
It was 2012, and Jason and Jessica had been married for 11 years. However, photographs of Aldean kissing Brittany Kerr at a Hollywood bar appeared online. The singer apologized and promised to work on his marriage.
Still, in 2013, Jessica and Jason called it quits and filed for divorce.
Eventually, country music artist Jason Aldean started dating Brittany Kerr. The couple made their relationship public in June 2014 during the CMT Awards. However, it was followed by a social media backlash, but Aldean said he isn’t apologizing anymore. The singer already got tired of critics, especially on social media, where people continue to post negative comments about him even when he is promoting charitable acts or events.
Jason Aldean said that he’s a better person because of it, and he wouldn’t change a single thing. “I’m happier than I have ever been, so thank you to all the people who support us. We are happy, and life goes on,” the singer said.
Jason popped the question in September 2014 at the San Diego Zoo, and the happy couple tied the knot on March 21, 2015, during a destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. The couple’s family, friends, and colleagues were there and arrived in the secret location ahead of the four-day celebration. Ever since then, Jason and Brittany Aldean have been together, emerging more in love than ever after a massive controversy and backlash.
“This is the best day ever!” Jason said in his interview with Us Weekly of his wedding to Brittany. “I’ve got my girl here, my friends, my family — it’s the best day ever!”
Jason Aldean’s spouse, on the other hand, was recently asked by a fan on her Instagram Story how she handles her life with “grace and humor.” She explained that she had developed a thick skin through the years – from the start of her relationship with her now-husband.
“When you have heard every negative possible thing you can and called every name in the book…you learn to laugh it off. It’s not that serious,” Brittany wrote. “My people love me! Nothing else matters in this world.”
Her Comes The Babies
Brittany Aldean became a first-time mom when she and Jason welcomed their first child together on December 1, 2017, a baby boy named Memphis Aldean Williams.
“So blessed today to see my little man come into the world. In a year that has been a rollercoaster ride, this is what it’s all about,” Jason captioned a photo of his family shortly after the delivery, referencing October’s Vegas shooting in 2017. The country singer was onstage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman opened fire from a nearby hotel, killing 58 people and injuring 489.
“I can’t wait to see what life has in store for this kid,” Brittany also wrote in her Instagram account.
Their new baby boy’s “something unique and different” name holds true to what country music star Jason Aldean told Entertainment Tonight in June 2017: “Nothing crazy like a direction — East, West, North, South — none of that stuff,” the singer said. “It will be something really cool. Both of us have names that are pretty common, Jason and Brittany, so something that’s unique is our main goal.” Though Jason first admits in his Field & Stream interview that deciding their baby boy’s name has been a challenge, and they had “about 100” options.
Just two years after, on February 4, 2019, Jason and Brittany became proud parents as they welcomed their daughter Navy Rome Williams into the world. The country singer announced the good news on his Instagram account.
But did you know that before Brittany Aldean welcomed her son, the celebrity mom struggled to get pregnant? It actually took her a whole year and a half of IVF treatments before the doctors realized she was suffering from endometriosis.
They gave her laparoscopy treatment she needed and luckily became pregnant soon after with Memphis. But for more than a year, Brittany did not only go through severe physical pain but also lots of “heartache.” As she told People, “Doing IVF is such a roller coaster of emotions. You get excited, and you think you’re going to get pregnant, and then you don’t. It’s hard.”
So when the couple finally ended up getting pregnant, it was the most exciting thing ever happened to them; after all, they tried so hard for so long. The mother of two also revealed that Memphis was the couple’s last embryo and that they were considering gestational carrier before she finally found out she was pregnant.
Five Years of Happy Marriage
Recently, the couple celebrated five years of marriage. Both celebrated the milestone on social media. The country superstar shared a photo of him kissing his wife Brittany, and wrote a sweet caption: “Happy 5 year anniversary to my queen!”
Aldean also thanked his wife for making him the “happiest and luckiest guy in the world” as he looks forward to the many years to come. Brittany, on the other hand, shared a photo of their tropical wedding and wrote how she made the best decision of her life five years ago. “The road has been a little tough at times, but you and I never wavered. We stuck through it all and look at us now. I am forever thankful for you, our marriage, the babies you’ve given me, and for the person you’ve helped me evolve into,” Brittany said.
Jason and Brittany definitely found true love in each other. “The cool thing with me and her are we truly are — and I hate to sound like a Hallmark card here — we truly are best friends,” Jason once said in his interview. We’re kind of inseparable, which is great. I like it that way. It’s cool. You can be married to somebody that truly you’re best friends with, and that makes it fun. It makes it the way it’s supposed to be.”
“I have learned so much from Jason, but we’re such different people,” Brittany also said. “He comes from a really small town, I come from a bigger city, so I think we really feed off each other.”
Some Facts About Brittany Aldean (aka Brittany Kerr)
1. She Used To Be An NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats Cheerleader
Brittany Kerr, who was born on June 19, 1988, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, used to be a member of the NBA team’s Lady Cats Dance Team from 2011 to 2012. Brittany once reflected fondly on her past days cheering for the NBA through a throwback photo she posted on her Instagram account.
The former cheer dancer can be seen in her cheer outfit looking enviably trim. “Can’t help but think of all the good times I had with the NBA and all the girls who helped make it a life-changing experience. From the international trips… to exhausting practice schedules, I enjoyed every second,” she wrote.
2. She Auditioned for American Idol
In 2012, Brittany Kerr was a hopeful contestant who tried out in American Idol’s Season 11. She quickly won over judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. The moment the North Carolina native walked in the room, Aerosmith’s Tyler was immediately smitten.
“I say, yes!” Tyler exclaimed upon meeting blonde beauty’s gaze. Brittany Kerr prepared Joss Stone’s “Spoiled” for the audition. Though she quickly had the guys on her side, Jennifer Lopez was a bit hesitant. “I’m going to say no this time. I’m sorry, sweetie,” Lopez said. “I thought she had a pretty voice, it just wasn’t strong enough. She’s not going to survive a week.”
Still, Brittany was able to bring home the ticket to go to Hollywood with two yes she got from Jackson and Tyler. Unfortunately, Lopez’s prediction came true as Brittany got knocked out long before the contestants performed in front of a live audience.
But what’s crazy was that after her first appearance in American Idol, people started searching her name like crazy that her website crashed as well as the Charlotte Bobcats’ photographer Jim Merrill’s website.
3. She got support from other artists’ wives
Brittany Aldean admits that having Jason Aldean away touring on the road can be pretty challenging, but she has learned to adjust, thanks to the support of other artists’ wives. The girls spend a night dedicated to wine, hanging out, and of course, venting out.
“Trying to do your own thing separate from your husband is difficult, and a lot of people struggle with that,” Brittany said. “I wanted to be with Jason on the road but still wanted my independence.”
She continued: “It’s easy to lose that when you live with somebody who is such a big star. It was hard to find myself in all of that, and I’m starting to get the hang of it all.”
4. She Got Back into Shape After Two Babies
Brittany gained 40 pounds during each of her pregnancies, and she admits she is having a difficult time losing the weight, which has also caused her to struggle with her self-confidence.
“You don’t feel like yourself, and you get really down,” Brittany said. “But I felt like if I took charge and focused on my health and what I was putting into my body, that would reflect on the outside.”
The mother of two said that running on a treadmill and lifting weights isn’t exactly her cup of tea. She prefers more “fun, natural” exercises like walking her kids or taking them on a stroll down the street. She also said that the South Beach lower-carb diet works for her since she’s able to eat often without starving herself.
5. She admits that being a stepmom is tough
Brittany opened up a Q&A session on her Instagram Story, and one fan asked for advice on being a “bonus mom” based on Brittany’s experience with the country singer’s two daughters from a previous marriage: Kendyl, 11, and Keeley, 16.
“Whewwww! Buckle that seat belt, girl!” she wrote. “It’s tough, but you have the opportunity to REALLY impact their lives.”
“ROCK IT and be a strong foundation for them!” she advised with a praise-hands emoji.
6. She’s a makeup artist and lifestyle blogger
The “You Make It Easy” singer Jason Aldean may be the one who is always center stage — but behind the scenes, Brittany is shining just as bright in her chosen career as a makeup artist and lifestyle blogger.
“Trying to make yourself look better and learning new tips and trips really helps women feel better about themselves, which is why I love what I do now,” Brittany said in Opry Entertainment’s new YouTube series, “Better Half.” “When I do people’s makeup, the biggest thing for me is the end result, and seeing them look in the mirror so excited and so happy because they feel good.”
The country superstar’s wife added: “Knowing you just made somebody feel so awesome about themselves is something that you can’t put a price tag on.”
Brittany Kerr Aldean discovered her love of doing makeup when she was still cheering for NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. She admits that she has always been interested in beauty and makeup, and this further intensifies when she had to do her own hair and make up for her job. “You don’t want to go out on the court in front of thousands of people and look crazy,” she said. “I had to learn, and I would help the girls with their stuff.”
Brittany Aldean has also been working on her website and YouTube channel, which will cover all things beauty, makeup, fitness, style, and holiday preparations.
