It is no secret what God can do for us. His unfading love and kindness to us have always been the reasons why we are lucky in life. We may not know that at first, but eventually, we’ll realize what God is really doing for us.
Let’s find out what God can really do for us is a gospel song written in the ’50s.
The Inspiration Behind “It Is No Secret”
“It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)” is a song penned by Stuart Hamblen. The song was written by him when he finally found God. Hamblen used to be an alcoholic, but when he was introduced to God, all of his old habits changed. When his friend noticed the changes in his life and asked him what happened, this is what he answered,
“It was no secret what God had done for me and what God could do for his you, too.”
His friend, therefore, suggested to him to turn the words into a song.
Cover Versions
Hamblen first recorded the song in the ’50s and after his version, other artists followed him. Some of the artists known to cover his song were Mahalia Jackson, Pat Boone, Jim Reeves, and more.
Elvis Presley’s Version
One of the most notable versions of this song was by Elvis Presley. He covered the song in 1957 for his Peace in the Valley album. His beautiful rendition was soon included on his platinum-certified Christmas album, Elvis’ Christmas Album.
About the Song
Hamblen wanted us to know that God is capable of helping each one of us. Whatever blessing He gave to others, He will surely give it to you. He doesn’t care about the sins you have, whether it is grave, to God we are all the same. God always wants to treat us equally. Surely, we will not agree with this 100%, but God knows what’s best for all of us.
It is no secret what God can do
What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you
With arms wide open, He’ll pardon you
It is no secret what God can do
