“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:2

Every day of our lives we face challenges and conquer them. Some days we achieve great things, including scoring the winning goal in a game, topping the sales chart for the month, bringing the best dish in the Sunday potluck, among others. Other times, we gain recognition for a well-deserved work and effort.

At times like these, at the back of our minds, whether we admit it or not, we want to boast about it and let others know of our accomplishments. It is very human, but we also need to remember that too much of it is pride, something that most religion, not just Christianity, consider as a sin or a bad thing.

Of course, feeling pride isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it is having too much of it that becomes an issue. After all, it is unreasonable to not feel anything after accomplishing something especially when we just came from a very hard situation and passed it. Though we don’t always remember to tone down our prideful nature, thankfully Tim McGraw brings us a reminder to do just that with one of the best tunes to grace our ears with “Humble and Kind.”

Be “Humble and Kind,” Even the Lord Says so

Tim McGraw and his song “Humble and Kind” are both very straightforward in the message they are trying to convey. The song’s lyrics aren’t deep, but they don’t have to be to get us to think. At the base of it all, the song reminds us to stay humble and keep being kind.

It may seem simple, but these are traits that are becoming seen less and less these days. It is important for us to be reminded of such a simple thing because we often forget; thankfully we have songs like these to keep us planted on the ground.

Remember the Lord gives us what is due to us based on our actions. This song is basically this verse:

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” – James4:6

So, always stay “Humble and Kind.”
