Yesterday, George Strait finally revealed the much-awaited announcement to help the victims of the Hurricane Harvey and possibly the havoc that Hurricane Irma would leave its victims. To quote the King of Country on his social media account:
“In an effort to raise funds, spirits, and help rebuild Texas in the wake of Harvey’s devastation, we’ll be playing a special benefit show at The Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX on September 12 with Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Robert Earl Keen, and Lyle Lovett as part of the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief fundraiser.
Tickets for the show will be on sale tomorrow, September 6, at 10 AM CST. All proceeds will go to those affected by the storm.”
While George Strait first announced that this might be a collective effort from the country community other artists from the different genres of music such as pop and Broadway and even actors took part in the upcoming TV history. It was also noted on their website, HandinHand2017.com that this Harvey relief is expanding its efforts to help other communities in the path of Hurricane Irma. To quote:
“Due to the impending possibility of Hurricane Irma, the Hand in Hand Hurricane benefit has now made arrangements and is prepared to expand its beneficiaries of the September 12th telethon to also include those who may be affected by Hurricane Irma in addition to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are prepared to help in any way we can.”

The Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief will be a one-hour special and will broadcast live from Universal Studios in California, Time Square New York and Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Blake Shelton will host the Nashville spectacle and George Strait will conclude the over-all telecast in San Antonio, Texas.
It’ll air at 8PM EST and a replay at 8PM on CMT, ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
