The Harlem Gospel Choir Performs “Amazing Grace”

Amazing Grace

The most famous gospel hymn is definitely “Amazing Grace.” It is a  Christian hymn published in 1779. The English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton wrote it.

According to the original writer, he intended “Amazing Grace” to have the message that ‘forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed.’ And that ‘the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God.’

The rendition of the Harlem Gospel Choir is nothing short of electric. The lead singer offers powerful vocals that are not compared to no one. It smoothly transitions to their fabulous runs and ad lib. The performance is laid back, yet it still contains the vocal power that it promises. Moreover, the rendition of “Amazing Grace” absolutely captures the spirit of the song.

Listen to the amazing rendition here!

The Harlem Gospel Choir

The world’s famous Harlem Gospel Choir is an American gospel choir based in New York. It is one of the United State’s most prominent gospel choirs.

Their name would be akin to powerful vocals, glorious sound, and infectious energy. They would be sure to inject jazz and blues into their performance. The choir has been touring for about two decades. Their goal is to spread the word of God across the globe.

The Harlem Gospel Choir has its roots embedded deep in the history of the African-American slave trade. It is rich with history and the birth of black gospel music. The hardships that the African slaves experienced gave birth to different musical styles. It forever changed the way we perceived music. If you take a good look at what we know as music now, one way or another, it has dipped its toes in the warm tones of black gospel music.

Today, The Harlem Gospel Choir continues the heritage with their ever loving praises and grace. They have performed with multiple superstars. They have performed for two popes and three presidents. The choir continues to spread the word and the works of our Lord. And none would mirror that better than “Amazing Grace.”
