We live in a fast pace-changing world. Today we’re probably at the peak of success. But in just a blink, we can actually lose everything in our hand. There’s no uncertainty as to when we’ll be able to enjoy the material possessions we have now. Even the very life we have is just temporary. One day, we will die and apparently, none of those possessions that we could bring with us to the afterlife. But the good news is there’s one thing certain that we could invest our life in. And, doing so would always be a winning decision. There’s nothing that we’re going lose but we could gain everything. It’s holding to God’s unchanging hand, putting our trust in Him.
The subject of trust is commonly depicted in many gospel songs. There’s a song that declares the sweetness of trusting Jesus. Another song gives emphasis not only on trusting Jesus but obeying His words too. Finally, the song “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” proclaims one’s belief in God to whom all certainties in the world belong. Trust in itself is a valuable ownership. Thus, for a rational being, it’s not easily given to just anyone. But, giving it to Jesus could be the best thing we’ve ever done.
Here is another wonderful song to inspire us to trust Jesus more and more. It’s called “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand” written by Jennie B. Wilson and with music from Franklin L. Eiland. The song was composed in 1906 and has been published in 82 hymnals.
The Lyrics
Time is filled with swift transition,
Naught of earth unmoved can stand,
Build your hopes on things eternal,
Hold to God’s unchanging hand.Refrain:
Hold to God’s unchanging hand,
Hold to God’s unchanging hand;
Build your hopes on things eternal,
Hold to God’s unchanging hand.Trust in Him who will not leave you,
Whatsoever years may bring,
If by earthly friends forsaken
Still more closely to Him cling. [Refrain]Covet not this world’s vain riches
That so rapidly decay,
Seek to gain the heav’nly treasures,
They will never pass away. [Refrain]When your journey is completed,
If to God you have been true,
Fair and bright the home in glory
Your enraptured soul will view. [Refrain]
