Some people have that someone who no matter how long it takes, one can never get over them. They pretend that they are fine and they are already happy but in reality, they still love that person. This is perhaps one of the saddest things in life,  not being with the person you love.

George Jones’ Chart Performance

“A Girl I Used to Know” was a hit in the 60’s which was performed by George Jones. He released the song as a single in 1962. In addition, Jack Clement, a songwriter and film producer who was known in the 50’s, wrote the song. George Jones song peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1962. Furthermore, the song spent a total of 18 weeks on the chart.

This was their first album together as a married couple. Their album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Moreover, the album remained on the chart for a total of 31 weeks.

Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner Version

Aside from George Jones making another version with his wife, the song was also covered by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner in 1968. Parton and Wagoner’s version peaked at No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs in 1969. They changed the title of the song to “Just Someone I Used To Know.”

What is the Song All About?
