“My Wish:” Rascal Flatts’ 2006 no. 1 Hit

Penned by Jeffrey Steele and Steve Robson, “My Wish” is the 2006 hit by American country music trio Rascal Flatts. Released on August 28, 2006, it was the third single from their fourth studio album, Me and My Gang.

My Wish” is a touching song (as told from a parent’s perspective). It talks about the greatest wishes of the parents for their children in the future.

As a family-oriented song, “My Wish” has touched many fans who easily relate themselves to the song. Not long enough, the song reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Also, it became a big crossover success in the pop and adult contemporary charts.

Soon, the song has become a music standard frequently played at graduation ceremonies, parties, and also weddings. To date, it is now 12 years old. It has become a popular song that people of all ages are familiar with.

The Song Inspired LeVox’s Daughter

Gary LeVox, Rascal Flatts’ lead vocalist, has made an impact to the life of a little girl through the song. That little girl is none other than Brittany, his own daughter. Brittany was just five years old when the song was released. During that time, LeVox would always play it to his little girl whenever he goes home. Now, she is at 17, she wants to prove that she can follow in the footsteps of her father.

One time, Bobby Bones, a country radio host, recalled talking to Brittany backstage at a Rascal Flatts concert. He relayed the words that Brittany had to share about her father. He said:

This is what I want to do. I’m so proud of my dad that it almost makes me want to cry.”

Clearly, she is very proud of all her father’s accomplishments and that she would like to do the same. Indeed, Brittany has lived behind what she said. She is persistent and patient that she will pursue a career in country music.

The Father-Daughter Duet

Last month, country music fans gathered around in West Palm Beach to celebrate the amazing talent of the Rascal Flatts. And who can miss out the incredible night when Gary LeVox invited his daughter, Brittany, for a duet onstage? Well, it was indeed one of the highlights of the night.

The father and daughter performed their favorite Rascal Flatts song together, “My Wish.” It was quite an emotional performance especially for both not just because of the song but also it’s a breakthrough for Brittany. True enough, the wish of the father for his daughter is coming into reality. Overall, it was a “proud papa moment” for Gary during the whole night.

In an Instagram post, Gary put into words his awe and praise for his daughter. He stated:

I have no words for the amazing gift that GOD has upon your life!” he wrote. “I’m humbled to be your earthly daddy but what your Heavenly Father has in store for you is more than I can barely stand!”

This is not the first time that the father and daughter sang together on one stage. In 2016, they performed “I Won’t Let Go” together during a concert.
