“It’s Been a Long Time Darling”

Being far from the person you love is never easy because you will miss being with them all the time. The only thing that keeps two people in love with each other is the love they share together. In 1945, Ernest Tubb wrote a song that tells the story of two people in love but is far from each other. Tubb released the song in 1945 as a single. “It’s Been a Long Time Darling” became Tubb’s second No. 1 song on the Hot Country Songs chart. His first No. 1 song was “Soldier’s Last Letter” in 1944.

The Legend and The Legacy

In 1979, Tubb released his compilation album The Legend and The Legacy which contained twenty songs. Some of the songs were previously recorded by Tubb earlier in his career. In this compilation album of Tubb, he collaborated with many well-known country artists such as Willie Nelson, Vern Gosdin, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, George Jones and many more. His album was supposed to be released in two volumes, but there was a poor sale on his first volume. Therefore, the second volume of the album was not released. Tubb’s compilation album reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

One of the singles in his album is “It’s Been A Long Time Darling.” This time around, instead of recording it solo, Tubb was accompanied by Conway Twitty.
