This song was Travis’ debut single in his album “Always and Forever.” The album landed on the number 1 spot for weeks and sold 5 million units at the least. The other two songs that came out of this album were “I Won’t Need You Anymore” and “Too Gone Too Long.”

While both songs were also great and certified classics, “Forever and Ever Amen” became a more popular song helping Travis establish his career even more on the country stage. The song spent weeks on the top of the billboard charts and gave the country star his 3rd number 1 single.

In 1987 the song won a Grammy for the Best Country & Western Song, it was also able to snag the Song of the Year Award from the Academy of Country Music.
