It has been an unknown rule and proclamation that Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll and if someone dares to disagree or challenge that, they should be banished from this world forever. We can all agree on that or think of a harsher punishment. Now, let’s focus on an Elvis Presley singing some of the most unforgettable ballads or doing some random piano acts which leave us either with goosebumps or just our mouths open. I’m talking about one his most heart-wrenching renditions and that is Unchained Melody- a song that resonated through time to remind every one of the geniuses that lent their vocals to this timeless song.

Unchained Melody, Impact, Elvis Presley

Penned by Alex North as the theme song for a less popular prison film entitled ‘Unchained,’ ‘Unchained Melody’ has become a song that influenced culture and many areas of life in general. If we are speaking of popularity, the said song is the only song to have reached No 1 in the UK charts in four different recordings on the official charts. It is also one of the songs that have been recorded 1, 500 times by various artists all over the world in multiple languages. It was also placed in several lists of association and magazines in Greatest Songs of All Time or Century.

On June 21, 1977, Elvis Presley performed the song at Rapid City, South Dakota and the critics were quick to point out that this was Presley’s last great moment of his career.’ It was recorded for his last TV special two months before his death in August 1977. A single was also released based on this recording.
