Eddie Montgomery Breaks Silence on Troy Gentry’s Death

Eddie Montgomery is the other half of the band, Montgomery Gentry that has disbanded in the most tragic way. September 8th, 2017 is a fine day until Troy Gentry, on his way to one their concerts, faced a tragic helicopter crash that killed him. While other bands disband because of facing catastrophe on individual differences or issues, Montgomery Gentry band has to face a fatal incident.

Like every other talented artist that has the passion for their craft, The Montgomery Gentry band completed an album before the tragic death. ‘Better Me’ was the first song that the said band had released during Troy Gentry’s memorial service.

Ever since fans flocked to show support and love and at this time around, Eddie Montgomery told Taste of Country how finally felt about the departure of a bandmate and a brother for 30 years.

To quote Eddie Montgomery:

“I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers. Our world was turned upside down in an instant, and nothing could have prepared us for this,” Montgomery writes.

“Over the past few months me and T-Roy have been working on what I think is the best record of our career. In the last few weeks we had been talking about what our first single would be. Then on September 8, none of that mattered.”

“‘Better Me’ is a song we all loved,” Montgomery continues. “It speaks volumes about his life and who he had become and everybody he touched and how much he loved his family. I am so proud of this song and also to call him my friend, my family, my brother for 30 years.”

Better Me Lyrics

I’m getting older
Founding myself and God getting a little bit closer
It’s over
I’m a little less reckless, little less wild card
Breaking hearts kinda senseless
Yeah, I’m coming around

I might cuss and fight, tell a few lies
Break a few rules, making promises I can’t keep
But I’ve turned the page on wilder days
I’m running all this down hoping you’ll see
I ain’t saying I’m perfect, but I’m working on a better me

I say I’m sorry
Sometimes it’s the hardest part to tell somebody
But baby I’m sorry
Yeah I’ve been praying
Coming from me that might sound a little bit crazy
But that’s how I’m changing
