“This Is How It Ends:” A Collaboration of Steve Earle and Miranda Lambert

The collaboration of country singers Miranda Lambert and Steve Earle is one of a kind in country music. The two joined forces to write and record a single for Steve Earle’s album So You Wannabe an Outlaw in 2017. “This is How It Ends” is a song penned by Miranda Lambert and Steve Earle. How did this amazing team up of artists happen?

When Steve Earle Met Miranda Lambert

Earle said in an interview with Rolling Stone that he decided to work with some people in the music industry. He worked with Guy Clark, Shawn Colvin and many more. He invited people he knew in Nashville to work with thus he ended up writing one song with Miranda.

“I made appointments with a few people to come in to town to write and Miranda was one of them.”

Earle got to know Miranda when his song “Feel Alright” has the same tune to Miranda Lambert’s song “Kerosene.” Miranda was not aware that her song’s tune was similar to another song, yet she still credited Earle on her single.

The Album, So You Wannabe An Outlaw

So You Wannabe An Outlaw is Steve Earle’s latest studio album. In his album, he collaborated with songwriters Emily Earle, Allison Moorer, and Miranda Lambert. Emily, Allison and Steve wrote his single “News From Colorado.” “This is How it Ends” is written by Miranda and Earl. The rest of the tracks on his single was written by him. His album reached No. 15 on Billboard Top Country Albums chart. In addition, it placed at No. 102 on the Billboard 200 chart. His album also secured a spot on the Billboard Folk chart at No. 5. It also entered the chart in the UK.

The Song’s Content

His single with Miranda is a song about a story of two people whom at the beginning were in love with each other. However, even their love together did not last as they ended their relationship with one another. The characters in the song were both aware that their relationship is doomed from the start.
