A Touching Story of “Sheltered in the Arms of God”

A Touching Story of "Sheltered in the Arms of God" 1

Dottie Rambo / (Source: Remembering Dotti Rambo – WordPress.com)

If you’ve got a house during stormy weather, you feel safe and comforted. But what if it’s the storms of life that struck you? How and where do you seek shelter from? If your answer is “in the arms of God” or “in God’s care,” then you’re completely safe and sound. As the adage goes, “The safest place we can be is in the arms of God.” To inspire us more on this subject, let’s listen to Dottie Rambo’s “Sheltered in the Arms of God.”

If you enjoyed the tune, for sure, you will likewise love the moving story behind it.

Story Behind the Writing of the Song

Dottie Rambo and husband Buck were in a Florida beach to have some relaxation. This is greatly helpful especially to Dottie who’s going through something in life that time. She’s having something in mind causing her soul to be troubled and she wants to muse on such. Carrying her guitar, she walks along the beach contemplating. Then, in the midst of her recollection, God led her to write a song about her situation.

“Lord, this storm is so much like my life, and yet, in the midst of the storms of life, you have been a shelter to me. When I can’t take the storm, I run to you for that shelter and, suddenly, I feel secure,” she thought.

However, she’s bothered on how to start writing the tune. She then asked for God’s guidance and immediately, He responded to her.

“As I was talking to God, the closeness of the Lord touched me on the shoulder. I felt his presence, so real.”

With that very warm feeling, these words came forth,

Thank you, Lord; I feel the touch of your hand, so kind and tender.”

After which, Dottie cried and said,

“Lord that is how I will open the song.”

And as the Lord continues to deliver His message to Dottie, for her own troubled heart, the words just keep on coming. Eventually, she completed the song and began performing it regularly.
