Be it in the movies, romantic novels, or even in real life, there is such a thing called “desperado love” that exists. The struggle faced by someone who’s involved in this complicated kind of love is real. Imagine yourself being desperately in love with someone but you know you can’t be with them due to some laws forbidding you. It seems like every day is a constant battle between your feelings and your respect for established orders. Sometimes the urge within you to fight for your love turns strong that you want to take heed of it. However, at the back of your mind, there comes a voice reminding you to act accordingly. Otherwise, you’ll be in trouble. On the other hand, if you listen and abide by the law, it’s your heart that will suffer. To be tangled in a desperado love is a misery-filled endeavor. Can you really keep your heart’s happiness and maintain your respect for the law at the same time? This duel between love and integrity is the central theme of Conway Twitty’s 35th and final No. 1 song as a solo artist. It’s one called “Desperado Love.”
Conway Twitty’s Desperado Love
Songwriters Michael Garvin and Sammy Johns penned the wordings of the song “Desperado Love.” Twitty recorded and released it in June 1986 as the first single of his album Fallin’ For You For Years. The song reached No. 1 on the country chart and enjoyed the topmost position for one week. All in all, the single spent 13 weeks on the country chart. Meanwhile, the song is set in mid-tempo melody which somehow overshadowed the miserable vibe of the tune. Putting things aside, Twitty, with his sultry voice, gave out a heartfelt rendition of the song.
