As a veteran of the United States Army, country music artist Craig Morgan remains loyal to the U.S. Armed Forces. As such, he prides on being a number one supporter of the brave men and women in uniform. Since he left the military, “This Ain’t Nothin’” singer has maintained a close relationship with the soldiers. He does so by touring and performing music for troops around the world. But, all of these would not have been possible without the help of the USO Tours.
With his incessant service to the warriors and protectors of the nation, the Tennessee native receives the credit he deserves. During the annual Army Ball of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of the United States Army last June 23, he was awarded the Army’s Outstanding Service Medal. This is the highest honor that the Department of the Army bestows a civilian. In an interview with Fox News right after the ceremony, Morgan stated that he never expected to be given such award.
“I never thought that once I got out [of the army] that would be a part of my life anymore, as far as the award ceremonies and that kind of thing.”
Although he’s no longer in the service, he added that he still feels being so and thus it’s his duty to continue serving his countrymen. Yet, he expressed his gratefulness in receiving the honor on behalf of those dedicated armies.
“It’s a little awkward because, you know, once a soldier, always a soldier. I still feel like I’m that guy most of the time, so it was a little unusual. But I was honored and proud to accept that medal on behalf of all the people that work tirelessly and effortlessly for our men and women in service.”
The “What I Love About Sunday” singer just returned home from his 10th USO Tour. For a total of eight days, the singer had performed across seven locations, including Tokyo, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq and Spain. This recent engagement has undeniably contributed a lot to his inclusion on the list of honored individuals.
