Sometimes the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. For these country artists, we can say that talent can be passed down from parent to children. Like a famous country singer once said “it’s a family tradition.” Here are seven children of country music legends.
7. Jesse Keith Whitley
The son of great Lorrie and Keith Whitley, Jesse Whitley, regularly plays shows and he is sometimes even joined by his famous mother on stage. He and his mother perform the Keith Whitley classic “Don’t Close Your Eyes” in the video below.
6. Jenny Gill
Vince Gill’s daughter, Jenny Gill, might have learned the ropes from her father. However, she is creating her own path. Jenny Gill released her EP The House Sessions earlier this year. It is a mix of country-blues songs that showed her soulful voice.
5. Holly Williams
Holly Williams is the granddaughter of Hank Williams Sr. and the daughter of Bocephus. She was destined to be country singer but she stands on her own. She is inspired by her famous family to create something entirely new
4. Lukas Nelson
The son of the great Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson, and being a son of Willie is like taking a crash course of songwriting, performing and generally just being one of the most coolest people on the planet. If Lukas is any indication then, Willie is a great teacher. Lukas Nelson released his latest album Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, a cosmic country record that shows the young Nelson’s depths as a songwriter.
3. Shooter Jennings
Shooter Jennings is the son of the great Waylon Jennings. Shooter followed his dad’s outlaw footsteps. After talking several walks on the country-rock side, Jennings returned to his country roots with the stripped-down single “Coming Home,” released last year.
2. Ashley Campbell
Daughter of the late Glen Campbell, Ashley Campbell, clearly inherited her father’s immense talent. Ashley Campbell wrote “Remembering” about her dad’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The song was featured in the documentary Glen Campbell…I’ll Be Me.

Ben Haggard
Ben Haggard, the youngest son of Merle Haggard, grew up playing guitar in his dad’s band, The Strangers. Today, Ben carries on his dad’s legacy. Along with his brother Noel, Ben regularly performs the Hag’s songs for fans old and new. The youngest Haggard has acquired a social media following for his covers of country classics and plans on releasing an album of original songs.
