Brief Song Background

While many songs employ a serious mood, this Mac Wiseman’s single took a different style. Composer Cy Cohen wrote the lyrics of “Johnny’s Cash and Charley’s Pride”. It was recorded in 1970 and released as the title track of Mac Wiseman’s album Johnny’s Cash and Charley’s Pride. Based on Billboard’s chart history, the song reached to No. 38 on January 17, 1970, and stayed on the chart for nine weeks. The Voice with a Heart, Wiseman performed a stern rendition of the song. Although such style was quite contrary the humorous vibe that sparks from its lyrics, it was indeed well-delivered.
