Discover Christmas Traditions of Your Favorite Country Stars

Everybody has their own special and distinct way of celebrating Christmas—and that includes our country music idols. Just like us, they are always eager to spread the warm holiday spirit and enjoy the comforts of home with their usual Christmas traditions.

If you’re curious to know how some of your favorite country stars prefer to spend Christmas, we’ve gathered a quick list of Christmas traditions from some of the hottest country stars for your reading pleasure:

Alan Jackson

Their family tradition is kind of cheesy, and it’s what makes Christmas in the Jackson residence truly unlike any other. Jackson shares that they don’t let anybody open any presents until Christmas morning. Christmas morning is after Santa Claus’ arrival.

“We don’t let them get up on their own and take off, you know. Everybody has to wait and kind of get situated and maybe have a cup of coffee, and then we start all of the regular Christmas morning activities. Opening presents, taking pictures, and video.”

Stephen Barker Liles (Love and Theft)

Barker Liles’ very endearing Christmas tradition involves turning off all the lights at home, lighting up some candles, and exchanging touching, personal stories with his loved ones. It has been his practice since he was a child.

Chris Young

Sometimes, Young would take his family to Disneyland for some fun, quality time especially during the holidays. But, when he’s not taking anyone to Disneyland, he’s busy being an annoying, hyperactive kid to his parents using 20-foot yard inflatables.

Kimberly Schlapman (Little Big Town)

According to Schlapman, her favorite Christmas tradition is to go to her grandmother’s house to spend Christmas there, before heading home with everybody to their parents’ house. Describing their very own holiday scenario, she shares that as they sit down, her mom would hand out gifts to everyone. They would even pretend not to know what the contents of the gift boxes were, even though they already know what gift they’ll be getting.

“It’s always Christmas pajamas.”, she reveals. “So everybody opens their Christmas pajamas and goes and puts ‘em on, and we come back to the living room and we sit around Daddy and he reads, ‘The Christmas Story’. And we tuck ourselves in until Santa comes.” Pretty cozy a tradition, isn’t it?

Luke Bryan

For Luke Bryan’s family, the main event at the comforts of their home during is Christmas goes this way:

“We like to do chili dogs on Christmas Eve. And then wake up and just open presents with all the kids.”

It’s simple, and at times they would also hold a dinner that’s seemingly arranged for a baseball fan.

Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves’ Christmas was always an adventure, thanks to her grandfather. Every year, he would always hold a scavenger hunt puzzle. The funny thing about Musgraves’ tricky grandpa’s game is how they’d end up finding their presents in the most uncanny parts of the house. Sometimes they’d find it in the bathroom, at times it would end up in a tree or somewhere outside behind their shed.

“It’s very imaginative, and it’s something I look forward to every year.”

the country singer admits. To this day, Kacey’s grandfather never fails to convince her to play even when she feels too old for it.
