Chris Stapleton Sings “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright,” A Song He Wrote For George Strait

Have you been singing George Strait‘s “Love’s Gonna Make It Alright” and got impressed by how well-written it is? Well, it was actually written by another country superstar, and it’s no other than the award-winning Chris Stapleton.

Before Stapleton was winning every single award at every award shows he attended ever since his solo career took off after his performance at the 2015 CMA Awards with Justin Timberlake, he spent his days whipping up hits for other singers being the extremely talented songwriter that he is.

So little did we know, we’ve already been singing along to a lot of his hits before we even knew who Stapleton was. In fact, as of 2018, Stapleton has accumulated credits writing and co-writing for more than 170 songs. His songs have appeared on several artists’ albums, including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has co-written with many artists, including Ed Sheeran, Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, and Sheryl Crow.

He has also impressively co-written six No. 1 country songs and countless chart-topping hits. One of those is George Strait’s “Love’s Gonna Make it Alright” released in 2011 as the second single from Strait’s album Here for a Good Time. The song has peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. country chart.

Stapleton teamed up with Al Anderson, former lead guitarist of the rock band NRBQ, to write “Love’s Gonna Make it Alright” for Strait. “We just sat down and specifically wrote it for him. And it usually doesn’t work, but it did that time,” Anderson said.

The easy, mid-tempo swinger tells the tale of a man promising his girl that he will always be there for her through the difficult times and assures her that love’s going to make everything alright. “When the world isn’t goin’ your way. Whatever bad luck is gettin’ you down, Honey, I’ll be right here for you. With open arms, you can run to me,” the song goes.

A couple of years after The King of Country released “Love’s Gonna Make it Alright,” Stapleton graced the Guys With Guitars concert in Long Island, New York, and he blew the crowd away with the performance of the song. 

Though his version is a little bit grittier than Strait’s, it still sounds so terrific! The whole crowd started singing along for the chorus, and Stapleton just leaned away from the mic to take it all in. It was indeed a surreal moment!
