“I Was Wrong” Lyrics
I’ve been thinking ’bout my thoughtless words
And I know just how much they must have hurt
And I take it back
Won’t you let me take it back

You know I told you that I don’t love you
That I’d be better off with someone new
But I take it back
Won’t you let me take it back

Girl you know that I still love you
And you know that I’m so alone
I don’t know why
I told you that I didn’t need you
Can’t you see that baby I was wrong

What I wouldn’t give to be your lover again
All I want to do is touch your skin
If I had you right here right now
I’d tell you, tell you, tell you, tell you

Girl you know that I still love you
And you know that I’m so alone
I don’t know why
I told you that I didn’t need you
Can’t you see that baby I was wrong

Chris Stapleton Cover Contest Winner Kevin Damrell

Kelvin Damrell emerged as the winner for Wide Open Country’s after he impressed blog readers and Wide Open Country judges alike with his rendition of ‘I was Wrong.” Wide Open Country was quick to recognize that Damrell has a potential to be the next Chris Stapleton since he already has the talent.

WOC stated on their website:

“When we launched our Chris Stapleton Cover Contest last month, we knew we’d find some raw and impressive talents.

Our contest winner, Kelvin Damrell, exceeded our expectations. We were absolutely blown away when we heard his cover of Stapleton’s “I Was Wrong.”

This is not an easy song to sing, but Damrell managed to mimic Stapleton’s technique and then some. The Kentucky native says he knows 98 percent of Stapleton’s catalog, even the deep cuts, but identifies vocally with this song more than any of the others. “I Was Wrong” appears on Stapleton’s sophomore album, From A Room, Vol. 1. “

For his win, Damrell would get $1000.00 cash, vinyl and CD copy of Stapleton’s new album, From A Room, Vol 1.

So what do you think about his Chris cover? Comment your thoughts below!
