Last month, Kenny Chesney was among the unfortunate individuals affected by the destructive Category 5 Hurricane Irma. Losing his home propelled the country-rock icon to establish his own non-profit organization in light of spreading help and support for all those victimized by the horrendous hurricane. Among the cities that received the most damage are the Bahamas, Cuba, Florida, the U.S. British Virgin Islands, and several islands in the Caribbean.
Since he began coordinating with friends and volunteers to send financial assistance to the victims, Chesney has been working hard to fulfill his promise of doing the best that he can to send help.
In a recent update he released on October 3, the country artist revealed the progress of their efforts through the Love for Love City Foundation so far. Aside from the U.S. British Virgin Islands, they have also doubled their efforts in order to supply families, especially those who were at the receiving end of the most recent storm, Hurricane Maria. Relief efforts have since been extended to the Caribbean in mid-September, particularly in St. Croix.
The Facebook video shows Kenny and his team of volunteers working together to acquire emergency supplies like food, water, generators, medicines and medical supplies. He adds that thanks to all the overflowing donations, they were able to provide an emergency lifeline to St. John, St. Thomas, Jost Van Dyke, and several other islands. He and his team have been deploying reliefs through boats, helicopters, and any other means of transportation that could help speed up the sending of relief goods to all the affected areas. At the end of the video, Chesney encouraged everyone to continue sending in their love, support, and help out in the best way that they can especially since there are still many people out there who are in need of supplies to help them survive. He adds that as more people keep donating to Love for Love City Foundation, they will also be posting constant updates on the progress of their hard work.
