Brad Paisley Customized “She’s Everything” To Make It A Song For His Wife

Brad Paisley may just be the most romantic country singer out there, especially when you’ll hear him sing “She’s Everything.” 

Released in 2006 as the fourth and final single off his album Time Well Wasted, the song climbed to the top spot of Billboard US Hot Country Songs.

It came courtesy of Nashville mainstay Wil Nance, who wrote the song about his wife. However, Brad Paisley re-wrote a small part of the lyrics to give the song a personal touch, making it closer to his own life.

“Well, I wrote that song by myself originally,” Nance said. “And when Brad heard it, he loved it. He held onto it, and after about five months, I get a call from Chris DuBois, and he said Brad loved the song, but if he’s going to sing it in front of 20,000 people every night, he wanted to change a few of the words to be more about his wife.”

Brad Paisley Did Not Only Change The Song But As Well As Wil Nance’s Life

The original “She’s Everything” lyrics started with “She’s a red pair of tennis shoes,” to which Paisley changed to “She’s a yellow pair of running shoes.” 

The original line that goes “She’s a ragtop LeBaron with her auburn hair a-blowing” was also changed to “She’s a Saturn with a sunroof and her brown hair a-blowing” – making it more fitting to Paisley’s wife, Kimberly Williams, who used to drive a Saturn with a sunroof. 

Despite Paisley customizing and personalizing the song, Nance can’t help but feel glad that the country superstar did it. The song actually became a breakthrough for Nance, who used to work as a waiter at the Steak and Ale before becoming a songwriter.

“Oh, it changed our lives tremendously. Financially, of course. We were able to pay our house off, and I’ve got a couple of rental properties now, and without that song, none of that would have happened,” Nance said. “I guess it gave me a little bit more of a better profile as a songwriter. I am very thankful for the success I’ve had, but I’ve always been scratching and scraping to get on records, so it’s never been easy.” 

Well, guess we could all agree that Wil Nance and Brad Paisley’s “She’s Everything” is one of the most romantic songs in country music. In fact, several newlyweds agree that this is a remarkably romantic song and even share their first dance at their weddings to it.
