Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love (1 John 4:7-8).

God, Himself, is love. That’s what the Holy Bible taught us and we can find several times from the Scripture various ways in which God’s love was depicted. If God is omnipotent, then His love must be without limits. On the other hand, there are numerous gospel songs and hymns that speak about the enormous and enduring love of God. An example is the one called “Boundless Love” which Dianne Wilkinson wrote during her two-decade stint with the legendary quartet, The Cathedrals.

The video below is an original performance of the song by the quartet. From this footage, we can see a couple of souls who jubilantly and tirelessly sing God’s boundless and endless love. True enough that the song was made perfectly for them. Given their powerful vocals and notwithstanding their age, the group breathed so much life into the song. Just listen and watch them perform and you’ll find yourself singing with them in the end.

The Songwriter

Dianne Wilkinson started performing in a Gospel trio that includes her mother and aunt. Having heard many of the great quartets and groups like the Statesmen and Blackwood Brothers inspired her to embrace it wholeheartedly Gospel quartet singing. This music type remains her favorite and continues to be her signature style. She has been writing Southern Gospel music since the 1970s. In 1976, she had her first song recorded by the Song Masters. In the recent years, Wilkinson felt that the Lord has called her for a greater purpose. She was then led to co-writing gospel songs which, indeed, became a blessing for her. Many great gospel singers and songwriters became part of her life because of it. She worked with the Cathedral Quartet during the 1980s. Her tenure with the quartet lasted for two decades. In the early 2000s, she began working with the Kingdom Heirs and 57 of the songs she wrote have been recorded by them.

Wilkinson writes Gospel songs for one great purpose. That is to get the message of the Gospel out through the lyrics that are grounded in the Word of God. It is her great belief that through Gospel songs, the lost will find their way back to Christ and people will find comfort in God. Also, she hopes to bring the highest glory to God through Gospel songs.

Folks, do you feel in your heart the boundless love of God? We would be glad to hear your thoughts or experiences related to the song.
