Hands gripped, praying.
Prayer is man’s greatest power. /Philadelphia Church of God

While it’s true that we can do all the charity works in the world, give all the money we can, or tithe 100 percent of our incomes if we want to, but there are still things going on that are out of our control. Natural disasters, sickness epidemics, and war – humans got no power to control these. But there’s one thing we can always do to commiserate especially to the innocent victims of the everyday tragedies that are happening around us. We can always pray.

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” – Matthew 18:19-20

The verses mentioned above evidenced the power of prayer. We are all encouraged to seek God’s intervention above all our circumstances, including the concerns of our fellows who are undergoing unfortunate situations. Prayer will always be the best weapon towards every battle that we face. And if we come together with one heart, heavens will open with a supernatural breakthrough that we never expected.

Country duo Big Kenny and John Rich disclosed about the song’s personal illuminating impact to them when they first heard it. Written by Blair Daly, Sarah Buxton, and Danelle Leverett, the track creates a special tune with its humbling and uplifting message of hope found in prayer.  It became an anthem on Country radio in Colorado right after a movie theater tragedy happened in the place.

Big and Rich are not new to spiritual concerns. Both of them grew up in Christian families. Rich’s dad was a minister in Amarillo, Texas. Being the head of the family, he trained his children to seriously pray about everything.

On this day and age, the song comes just at the right time to remind us the reasons why we should pray. By the way, when was the last time you prayed again? I mean that intense prayer where you did not only thank God for the food in front of you, or uttered a goodnight thanksgiving thought because another long day is over. When was the last time you totally paused, closed your eyes and prayed with all your worth?

Find reasons to pray

Now I’m begging for forgiveness
I wanna make a difference even in the smallest way
I’m only one person, but I can feel it working
I believe in better days
That’s why I pray

“That’s Why I Pray” takes on issues that you don’t typically hear about in songs. It addresses the rising of social problems that create risk in every corner of the world. Also, it reminds us that we are not yet doomed, we can always pray for a brighter future. If you would only try to reach out to God, you’ll see that He is widely willing to listen. He has greater plans for us, the best is yet to come.

Take time to reflect on this song with an incredibly powerful message. Brothers and sisters, I pray that you’ll be surrounded by God’s loving presence all the days of your life.
