A Little More Country Than That…
The song was written by Joey + Rory’s Rory Lee Feek, Wynn Varble, and Don Poythress. In addition, it was released in August 2009 as the first single from his self-titled debut album. On April 3, 2010, the song peaked at No.1 on the country charts. This made Corbin as the first solo male country artist to send a debut single to No.1 since Dierks Bentley in 2003 with “What Was I Thinkin’”.
A Li’l Bit ‘Bout Easton Corbin…
Dan Easton Corbin is a native of Trenton, Florida and was born on April 12, 1982. He lived with his grandparents after his parents got divorced. His grandparents were the ones who introduced him to country music especially country music-themed television programs specifically Hee-Haw. Furthermore, at the age of 14, he learned how to play the guitar with the session musician Pee Wee Melton at Dixie Music Center. Corbin then joined a band which won a slot at a music festival.
Moreover, Corbin earned his degree Agricultural and Life Sciences at University of Florida’s College. After college, Corbin worked at Ace hardware while performing at night at Writers’ Nights. Due to this, a distant cousin recommended him to contact in Nashville. In 2005, Corbin joined a competition for the Annual Suwannee River Jam, then his career began.
Easton Corbin’s Rise To Fame…
In 2009, Joe Fisher, the senior director of A&R at Universal Music Group Nashville, signed Corbin a contract to the Mercury Nashville label. Corbin’s self-titled debut album was released in March 2010, under the production of Carson Chamberlain. The album had first-week sales of 43,000 copies, making it the highest first-week sales on the Mercury Nashville label in seven years.
Roll With It…
After his success for the song “A little more country than that”, Corbin released “Roll With It”. The song was written by David Lee, Tony Lane and Johnny Park. Surprisingly, the track peaked at No.1 on the country charts. This made Corbin’s second consecutive No.1 hit for the week of October 30, 2010.
These are proofs that Easton Corbin is one of the rising artists that can penetrate the world of country music. He can sing and he has a heart for the country music.
