Thanks to the Carter Family dynasties, other family acts prospered all throughout country music’s history. That said, today’s feature is a band hailing from North California and specializes in contemporary bluegrass.

Here’s one of their awesome rhythmic gospel song that any bluegrass music lover will consider adding to their collection of albums.

“I’m On the Battlefield” by Mountain Faith

I’m On the Battlefield, written by Sylvana Bell and E.V. Banks and spectacularly performed by a bluegrass family band called Mountain Faith.

You might have heard or seen them in 2015’s America’s Got Talent. They were among the crowd favorites and were able to reach the semifinals.

Members of the band were Sam McMahan (father), son Brayden on banjo, and his daughter Summer on fiddle. Sam’s nephew John Morgan plays guitar, and Dustin Norris is on mandolin.

They have shared the stage with legends like Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, and Loretta Lynn.

Awards/Recognitions

2016 is a momentous year for the band. On September 16, they debuted at the Grand Ole Opry. The same year, they were nominated the “Emerging Artist of the Year” by the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association).
Summer McMahan (Vocalist for MFB) was also saluted the “Momentum Vocalist of the Year” by the Association in 2015.

Currently…

They do concerts on tour and are averaging to more than a hundred per year. Their family concept of a band appeals much particularly among church crowds as they see family as the most vital part of community building.

Song’s Anatomy

Opening lines:

“I was alone and idle, I was a sinner too,
I heard a voice from heaven
Say there is work to do, I took the
Master’s hand and joined heaven’s band,
Now I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.”

Those words got much depth to hook a listener’s ear to finish the whole song. Also, the lead singer’s smooth vocals are another strong draw.  Added to that fact is the demographics she represents; youths devoting their talents to Christ.
