Elvis Presley’s chilling love ballad, “Can’t Help Falling In Love with You”, is a song loved by many. Considering the fact that many artists have covered it, there must be joy in singing it all over again. Artists from different genres are singing it like it is their own. People of all ages and walks of life also find time to have a share of enjoyment humming the song to Elvis. However, no one is quite alike Andrea Bocelli, who brought the song to a higher sensational level. In 2006, master pianist, David Foster, plays the ivories while Bocelli moves the audience to complete awe with his excellent cover of Elvis’ classic.
Who is Andrea Bocelli?
Andrea Bocelli is an Italian crossover artist who recorded fifteen solo studio albums: both pop and classical music. He had three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas, selling over 80 million records worldwide. Hollywood Walk of Fame honored Bocelli with a star for holding the record for biggest-selling classical crossover album with Sacred Arias. The album alone sold 20 million copies worldwide. Bocelli has also earned a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records, for holding the top three positions on the U.S. Classical Albums charts. Seven of his albums have made the top 10 on the Billboard 200, while ten topped the classic crossover albums chart in the U.S.
A well-known opera singer, Bocelli is one of the best in his genre and can carry fans’ hearts with whatever song he sings. Musicians and other singers have acclaimed Andrea Bocelli’s incredible tenor range and deep calming voice for years. Moreover, when he took on a classic Elvis Presley tune, he captivated the audience by his delivery.
Bocceli’s Las Vegas Performance
Foster opens with,
“We are in Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world. There’s got to be a song that you could pull out of your hat that is very appropriate and right for this occasion being in Las Vegas.”
Bocelli then responds by showing Foster a tune to play on the piano for his performance. Uncertainly, Foster imitates the tune before Bocelli begins singing the iconic love song. With just the very first line of the song, the audience’s breath were taken away.
The opera legend gave new life into the classic song and made it his own.
