The American Music Awards (AMA) was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on the 24th of November. It was certainly a night to be remembered with extravagant performances from great artists such as Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello, and more.

This year American Rapper Post Malone led the nomination with seven categories on his shoulders, including the biggest category of the night, Artist of the Year. He competed for the title with Drake, Ariana Grande, Halsey, and Taylor Swift.

Nominees for AMA 2019 Favorite Music Video of the Year

This category includes genre-bending nominees, from pop to country artists being seen here. Here are the names of this year’s nominees.

  • “Bad Guy” – Billie Eilish
  • “7 Rings” – Ariana Grande
  • “Without Me” – Halsey
  • “Old Town Road” – Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
  • “You Need to Calm Down” – Taylor Swift

The country-sounding song of Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” was nominated on this category and others like Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Song, and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song. Sadly, despite having a collaboration with a country star, Billy Ray Cyrus, and having the elements of country music, it was still not able to be nominated on a country genre.

Even the then-country star Taylor Swift was nominated on this category, however, her song is not under the country genre anymore. Her “You Need to Calm Down” from her Lover album was nominated for this category.

And the winner for this year’s Favorite Music Video goes to Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down.”

Congratulations to Swift for winning on this category and being the biggest winner of the night. Everyone deserves to win but only one can take the crown.
