“Always On My Mind” are the words constantly said by those in love, and one of the best classic songs given to us by one of country’s biggest star Willie Nelson.
With the troubling news about Willie Nelson’s health popping up recently, a lot of fans were very worried about the country star’s well-being. News of his breathing problems and possible cancellation of his tour rocked the world of Country yesterday (August 7, 2019) and everybody became extremely concerned on the country legend’s situation.
Willie Nelson apologized to fans in his twitter account explaining that he had breathing problems and had to see a doctor.
To my fans,
I’m sorry to cancel my tour, but I have a breathing problem that I need to have my doctor check out.
I’ll be back

This was troubling news for us country fans since it isn’t exactly the first time a tour was canceled due to Willie Nelson having health concerns. In early 2018, Willie Nelson was forced to cancel a few tours due to possible issues with his health. During the summer of that year as well he had to cancel an appearance at the Outlaw Music Festival because he wasn’t feeling very well.
This wasn’t the first time that issues on his breathing as well. Back in 2017, he had to stop a concert in Salt Lake City due to respiratory issues. A couple of concerts were also canceled earlier that year.
“Always On My Mind” Not Just A Love Song But The Thoughts of Someone Deeply Concerned
We all know the song “Always On My Mind” some are more familiar with the King, Elvis Presley’s version while others, like me, are more familiar with the country legend’s version. Either way, both are good and aren’t necessarily a love song alone.
Sure, the sentiments are rather forward, the song talks about how the protagonist may not have always been the best or most ideal but always had his/her partner on their mind, hence the title “Always On My Mind.”
However, when I heard about the news on Willie Nelson, it got me thinking about the song and its words. Though some are clearly talking about love in a relationship, the rest can be interpreted as words spoken to people we really care about as well such as us to Willie Nelson. Lyrics like:
Maybe I didn’t love you
Quite as often as I could have
And maybe I didn’t treat you
Quite as good as I should have
These lyrics can be seen as messages from fans to Willie. Let’s face it, we don’t always act the best and even act privileged as fans. Sometimes, we forget that these people do work hard to entertain us and we even get really mad when they fail to do so.
