Despite the still fresh and heating news about the just concluded 2018 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, I just want to divert your attention to another awards show — the GRAMMYS!

Maybe, many of you would ask the difference between the two — GRAMMY and ACM. Well, this is the time that those questions may be clarified and put a period on. To give a brief comparison and contrast, both the GRAMMY and the ACM are award shows those honor artists of distinction in the music industry.

On the other hand, the two differ in the area of scope or coverage. The GRAMMY, for example, is considered to be the highest awards show in the whole music industry. It spans past across different genres of music. In contrast, the ACM just focuses in the field of country music.

Top 3 Grammy Winners of All Time

Since its inception in 1957, the Grammys has recognized a total of 84 categories in the music industry. From the best of pop to rock to country, these categories also include R&B, jazz, classical, Spoken Word, Musical Theater, and Music For Visual Media, among others.

Winning a GRAMMY gives one prestige and honor that can catapult an artist’s career to a higher level. However, as much as bagging only one Grammy already is a great achievement, there are some who have amassed more than 20 and even 30 career GRAMMY wins. Well, let’s have a look at the top three artists who have won the most GRAMMY of all time. Recording Academy, the award-giving body that hands the Grammys, compiled a list of the top GRAMMY winners of all time. And we’ve just chosen the top three.

1. Georg Solti, 31

Hungarian-born orchestral and operatic conductor, the late Sir Georg Solti holds the record for the most GRAMMY Awards won in any genre with 31. Not only does he have the most wins, he also has the most awards in the Classical Field. Solti’s last win was for Best Opera Recording for Wagner: Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg for 1997.

2. Quincy Jones, and Alison Krauss, 27

Also known as “Q,” Quincy Jones is the second artist with the most GRAMMY wins tied with country artist Alison Krauss. His GRAMMY career as an all-around artist, arranger, and producer span more than 10 fields, which goes from jazz to pop, rap, R&B, and more. In addition, he is one of only 15 artists to have received the GRAMMY Legend Award.

Alison Krauss is the top female artist with the most Grammys. She also holds the same distinction in the country field. Krauss shares 14 of her wins with her backing band of nearly 30 years, Union Station.

3. Pierre Boulez, 26

French composer, conductor and writer Pierre Boulez comes in third. He has a total of 26 GRAMMYs (short with only one more to tie with that of Quincy and Krauss). He was one of the dominant figures of the post-war classical music world. In addition, Boulez received The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

Alison Krauss: Country Music Artist With the Most GRAMMYs

With a total of 42 nominations, Alison Krauss snatched a GRAMMY for 27 of these, making her the most decorated female and country artist to have the most GRAMMY wins. This American bluegrass-country singer and fiddler have released 16 studio albums — seven of which are with her band, Union Station, and nine going solos.

From Best Bluegrass Recording to Best Bluegrass Album, Best Country Gospel, Best Female Country Vocal and many others, Krauss proves that she is a great talent. She first won her GRAMMY in 1991 with the Best in Bluegrass Recording. On the other hand, her last GRAMMY win was in 2012 winning Best Bluegrass Album for “Paper Airplane.”

In an interview in 2012, Krauss exclaimed her excitement and joy saying,

“It’s still exciting after all this time. We don’t make a record every year or every couple of years so you are never sure if you are going to get the chance to come back.”

Indeed, Krauss is such a pure talent in her own ways. With more expected beautiful music she will still have to produce, and with more GRAMMY awards to come, it is then certain and very possible that she can outnumber the GRAMMY wins Solti and Quincy have ever achieved.
