Being alone or feeling alone is one of the most difficult things anyone can go through. At this time in our lives, we long for someone to rely on and something to ponder on. But, sometimes the people around we expect to be there tend to give up. With this, God is the only one we can run to for refuge. He will listen to us, eradicate our worries, give light, and walk with us wherever we go.

So, for all the people out there who are feeling down and going through bad times, listen to “In The Garden” by Alan Jackson. The hymn will ease the feeling of loneliness within you. In addition, the words and lyrics will guide you that there will be a better future that awaits you. Also, the melody can make you realize how beautiful life can be, especially with God.

The Song…

Austin Miles is the songwriter behind the hymn “In The Garden.” Miles was a former pharmacist. Also, he was an editor and manager at Hall-Mack Publishers for 37 years. His experience as an editor helped and shaped him as a superior songwriter.

Furthermore, the song was penned in a cold, dull, and drippy basement in Pitman, New Jersey. The basement didn’t have a window… a window to at least give a view of a garden. Perhaps, this is the reason the song “In The Garden” has been created.

Moreover, the hymn was primarily published in 1912 and popularized during the Billy Sunday evangelistic campaigns of the early twentieth century. It was promoted by two members of his staff, Homer Rodeheaver and Virginia Asher.

The Lyrics…

I come to the garden alone

While the dew is still on the roses

And the voice I hear, falling on my ear

The Son of God discloses

And He walks with me

He talks with me

And He tells me I am His own

The joy we share as we tarry there

None other has ever known

He speaks and the sound of His voice

Is so sweet the birds hush their singing

And the melody that He gave to me

Within my heart is ringing

And He walks with me

He talks with me

And He tells me I am His own

The joy we share as we tarry there

None other has ever known

I’d stay in the garden with Him

‘Tho the night around me be falling

But He bids me go; through the voice of woe

His voice to me is calling

And He walks with me

He talks with me

And He tells me I am His own

The joy we share as we tarry there

None other has ever known
