Love is a strong feeling of affection. There are a lot of definitions of “Love.” A love for a friend, family, partner, or someone in your heart. These are the kinds of love we all have. But most of all, we all long for the “eternal love,” the partnership, or the commitment towards someone. But, not the devastating one we kind of experience is falling out of love. Indeed, it is painful when the one you love has given up on you, or the other way around. It is because there is no love between the two of you.

“All Out Of Love” exactly describes a love that has prospered, but changed, and turned lovers into strangers. Perhaps, everybody can relate to the song. Once there was a love, both of you were happy and thought that “forever” struck you. But in the end, you no longer have the feelings for each other. Furthermore, both sides don’t know the reason, but it just turns out that you don’t belong to each other. Yes, it is painful, but it lingers until both of you has healed.

The Song…

Graham Russell and Clive Davis are the people, the songwriters,  behind the words and lyrics of “All Out Of Love.” It was released in 1980 as part of Air Supply’s album entitled “Lost In Love.” It was one of Air Supply’s most successful songs. In fact, it became No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became No.5 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Also, it is listed as one of best love songs of all time.

Clive Davis was credited as a songwriter of the song due to his suggestion particularly on the first lines of the chorus. The primary lines were supposed to be “I’m all out of love, I want to arrest you.” However, people might not easily understand the meaning, so Davis changed it to more relatable and easier to understand. Thus, he changed it to “I’m all out of love, I’m so lost without you.”

The Lyrics…

I’m lying alone with my head on the phone

Thinking of you till it hurts

I know you hurt too but what else can we do

Tormented and torn apart

I wish I could carry your smile and my heart

For times when my life seems so low

It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring

When today doesn’t know, doesn’t know

I’m all out of love; I’m so lost without you

I know you right believed for so long

I’m all out of love, what am I without you

I can’t be too late to say that I was so wrong

I want you to come back and carry me home

Away from this long lonely nights

I’m reaching for you, are you feeling it too

Does the feeling seem oh so right

And what would you say if I called on you now

And said that I couldn’t hold on

There’s no easy way; it gets harder each day

Please love me, or I’ll be gone, I’ll be gone

I’m all out of love; I’m so lost without you

I know you right believed for so long

I’m all out of love, what am I without you

I can’t be too late to say that I was so wrong

Oh, what are you thinking of

What are you thinking of

I’m all out of love; I’m so lost without you

I know you right believed for so long

I’m all out of love, what am I without you

I can’t be too late I know I was so wrong
